Little Steps Learning Center’s Curriculum
Little Steps Learning Center’s curriculum is based on two fundamental aspects of childhood: play and daily routines. We employ learning centers that divide up each classroom into different subject areas with developmentally appropriate activities and a play-based routine to promote skill development. Children have the opportunity to choose and experiment within the learning centers in the classroom.
We believe that activities in these learning centers provide valuable opportunities for children to develop a variety of skills, including large muscle movement (gross motor skills), small muscle movement (fine motor skills), communication with others, self-sufficiency (adaptive/self-help skills), building relationships, and fostering self-awareness (social-emotional skills), as well as thinking and problem-solving (cognitive skills) and engaging in child-initiated art and music (creativity). Little Steps Learning Center enhances these learning opportunities by allowing children to explore their environment and facilitating many meaningful teacher-child interactions throughout their play and daily activities.
